Jackson by renowned British architect Willam Armitage, it has been home to many eclectic and illustrious personalities from the city's archives. Past inhabitants include Ernestine Kreling, the owner of the storied Tivoli Opera House and Bob Kaufman, the poet who inspired the term 'Beatnik'. The house at 1057 Steiner Street was restored to it's original Victorian splendor by Rodney Karr in the 1980s.
